The Centre provides free
consultancy services, encourages research ,produces quality resource
books and other publications and builds capacity through training
programmes.
The Centre assists with registration
formalities with the charity commissioner/registrar of societies,
obtaining tax exemptions, FC(R)A clearances, judicious investment
of funds, accounts and proper computation of income.
The Centre undertakes research
and critical appraisal of public policies affecting philanthropy
and serves as clearing-house of information in the field. Whenever
required, it also advocates the cause of the philanthropic sector
before the Government, public bodies and the media.
Seminars
And Training Programmes
The Centre periodically organizes
seminars, conferences and workshops, on diverse themes, including
effective management, accounting principles, understanding charity
and tax laws, governance, fund raising, effective communications,
volunteerism etc.
These programs are conducted
by experts in the field not only from India but also from abroad.
Publications
Since the past 16 years,
the Centre publishes a bi-monthly journal, 'Philanthropy', which
covers, besides legal and tax issues, comments and analysis, views
and profiles.
The Centre has also published

Membership
The Centre has a membership
strength of about 400, comprising a fairly representative cross
section of corporate bodies, grant-making foundations, NGOs and
professionals involved in the field of philanthropy.
There are three types of
memberships
Patron
Any Individual or institutions may become a Patron Member by paying
a one- time membership fee of Rs 50,000/-
Institutional:
Any firm, association, trust,body corporate or any other type
of organization may become an Institutional member by paying a one-time
membership fee of RS 7,500
Associate:
Any individual or institution may become an associate member by
paying a one-time entrance fee of RS 750/ -, together with an annual
fee of RS 750/-,
Nominal:
Besides the above the center has a facility for persons to be a
Nominal member in case the person does not want to become a full
member but would like the benefits of the centre’s newsletter and
other activities. Such a person only has to make an annual contribution
of RS 200.
Nominal members do not enjoy
the privilege of voting at General Body Meetings.
